2024 Business Goal Setting Tips

As we enter 2022, we are in a fresh year of new opportunities for businesses. However, sometimes change and new ideas can seem a daunting task and it is easy to just fall into “business as usual”. In order to make progress and move forward, a goal and plan has to be set. We thought we would share some tips on setting business goals to get you started. Good luck and here’s to a successful year ahead!

• Start with your dream
  Ask yourself, What’s the big ‘why’ for your business? Visualise what success could look like for you and how these goals will help achieve it.
• Block out time to focus on setting your goals
  Ensure you dedicate time to get planning and looking ahead at what you want to achieve for the year ahead. If it’s with a wider team, set an agenda with key topics you want to cover and questions to ask. Get everyone involved and make it interactive. Everyone loves a post-it note activity.
• Set goals in writing
  Writing something down is a powerful step, it makes it more real. Be firm with your language when you write them ‘will’ in place of ‘would like to’ and make sure there are no get-out clauses in what you say.
• Ensure your goals are SMART;
  S – Specific
  M – Measurable
  A – Attainable
  R – Relevant
  T – Time-bound
• Create an action plan to make them happen
  The goal is the first step, the plan on how to fulfill it is the next step. Create a list of the individual steps of the plan to get where you need to go, the more specific the better, you will enjoy crossing them off as you go!  You can even create a to-do list or use a to create the action plan and assign time or dates to each step.
• Schedule time to check in on your goals and progress
  Ensure you make time to review your goals and check in on your progress and whether they are still relevant and achievable.
